ForkLift’s Google Drive Integration Restored: Direct Connection Approved

We are excited to announce that ForkLift’s integration with Google Drive has been fully restored!

After successfully completing Google’s Cloud Application Security Assessment (CASA), ForkLift has received OAuth App Verification approval, meaning you can once again connect directly to Google Drive without any warnings or blocks.

No Code Changes Needed – Meeting Standards All Along

Throughout the CASA process, we are proud to share that no changes were required to ForkLift’s code or the way it handles Google Drive connections. This means that our app had already met Google’s strict security standards prior to the assessment. The review simply confirmed that our existing practices were fully aligned with Google’s requirements.

What This Means for You

Previously, users encountered warnings or were completely blocked when attempting to connect to Google Drive in Forklift. While some users were able to proceed through Google’s “unverified app” warning, others were restricted entirely. We understood the inconvenience this caused and appreciate your patience throughout this process.

Now that ForkLift has met Google’s updated security standards, you can securely and directly connect to Google Drive without any warnings or issues.

Key Benefits of the Restored Integration

  • Secure Connection: ForkLift now meets Google’s stringent security requirements, ensuring that your data is safe when accessing, editing, and managing files on Google Drive.
  • Seamless Experience: Whether you are managing local files or cloud-based documents, the integration allows you to use ForkLift as your all-in-one file manager without interruption.
  • Full Access: The direct connection is back, meaning you can once again create, delete, edit, and organize your Google Drive files effortlessly – without needing the Google Drive desktop app.
  • Multiple Account Support: With the restored direct connection, you can now connect to multiple Google Drive accounts simultaneously, making it easier to manage and work across different accounts – even transferring files between them in one unified platform.

How to Reconnect to Google Drive in ForkLift

If you have been using the temporary workaround (accessing Google Drive through the desktop app), you can now return to the direct connection. Here’s how to connect:

  1. Open the Connect Panel: in ForklIft, open the Connect Panel with the Command-K keyboard shortcut or from the menu: Go > Connect
  2. Select Google Drive as the protocol and click Connect
  3. Authenticate: Follow the OAuth authentication steps to link your Google account.
  4. Manage Your Files: You are ready to go! Access your Google Drive files directly from ForkLift with full functionality.
