  1. I own already a Forklift 4 license that gets updates until mid of 2026. When I purchase a “new” license now from the sale, do I get a new license code that replaces the existing license?

    1. Unfortunately, this sale can’t be combined with existing licenses, but you are free to choose whichever option feels best for you. You can keep your current license, or, if you would like, take advantage of this limited-time discount for a new one. You should calculate which is the better option financially.

Even if your old license hasn’t expired yet, you can still use it to get the bonus days in our store. If you want to delete the old license key registration from ForkLift 4, then quit ForkLift 4 and insert this command into Terminal and press Enter: defaults delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.binarynights.ForkLift registrationData

When you restart ForkLift, you will be able to insert the new key.

      1. Thanks for clarifying! Making it should be made clear(er) that this offer is only for new users and not for existing ones (I was not aware of that). In any case, I will purchase a new license then since I just have 6 months left on my existing license and the offer for a 2 year plan is good.

Keep up the great work on Forklift!

        1. I wouldn’t say the sale is only for new users because existing users can also benefit from it and can also receive the bonus days when entering their old license key. The important thing is that a newly purchased license doesn’t extend the remaining time of an existing one.

We have added the relevant information to our FAQ page so that this is clearer for everyone. Thank you for pointing that out.

      2. Can I purchase a new license now and enter the key, when my existing license has expired in Mid-December to start the new 2-year plan?

        1. Yes, you can do that. Just know that the two licenses won’t be combined into one, so you will loose those days, but overall you will win a lot with this discount.

  2. “ForkLift 4 brings faster file operations, an efficient two-pane interface, advanced sync features, and a smooth workflow that works well both for professional use and for everyday file organization.”

Efficent, smooth workflows and for professional use? And then no keyboard select? You must be kidding.
Sadly, forklift 4 is just an regression in this regard.

  3. Still rocking v3. It’s good enough for now. Been using Forklift since v2 maybe earlier. Can’t remember but it has been a long while. Will be getting v4 on this deal to support the developers. Also, great deal.

  4. I am currently running the trial but was wondering what limitations are there for the trail vs the full license product? Forklift seems to keep updating the software so I assume there are feature or process limits that are restricted because of being on the trial.

    1. Currently, the trial has no limitations other than the pop-up that asks for a license key. That doesn’t mean that ForkLift is a free app, if you have evaluated it and want to keep using it, then please buy a license.

      1. Thanks! Bought a new family license. I’ve been using it since 2017 🙂
But.. new sad news had came (
Current app version is not running on Ventura (13.5) ((
Is there a FL4 for my macOS ?

    1. I saw it a short time ago but spaced out because frustratingly there wasn’t an announced end date. I get the marketing psychology there, and it’s common, but it seems like unnecessarily dirty psychology. “Winter Sale that begins and ends before Winter! Make an impulse buy right now or it might be gone at some random point tomorrow, or the next day but we’re not telling” just seems silly. Sincerely, someone with ADHD 😛

      1. I’m sorry that this felt frustrating for you.

We did not publish a fixed end date simply because we did not know in advance when the sale would end. When we announce a promotion, we usually allow enough time for users to decide whether they want to purchase. However, if someone comes across the sale later on, there can naturally be some uncertainty about how long it will still be active.

This is not intended to create pressure, but rather reflects the practical limits of planning promotions in advance.

The “Winter Sale” was effectively our Black Friday promotion, which started earlier than Black Friday itself. For that reason, we chose not to label it as a Black Friday sale. As with most winter sales, it was never intended to last for the entire season.

That said, we appreciate you sharing how this came across, and we will keep the feedback in mind for future promotions.

        1. Of course it’s frustrating, as it’s BS any way you flip it: I meant to buy a 2-year family licence but when I came back, the Winter Sale was gone… call it Black Friday Sale if you don’t want to specify the dates – which makes sense whether you’re ADHDer like J and me, or a normie – because that would imply it won’t last throughout the winter/holiday season. So should I decide to buy, it won’t be now – if ever. This is just dumb, these promos should make new customers for you, not leave them bitter for missing the sale.
