This version introduces the opportunity to upgrade your ForkLift 3 license and claim the upgrade bonus of an additional 100 days of free updates. Only users who have not previously claimed this bonus are eligible to receive the extra days. For more information on eligibility and how to claim the bonus, read this post.
Starting from this version, you can add custom icons to your favorites. In this version, the icons only change in the sidebar, in future versions the icons will be modified in the tabs as well. You can change the icons while you are creating a favorite on the Connect Panel by clicking the icon next to the name of the favorite. You can also modify existing favorites by right-clicking them in the sidebar and selecting Edit. Click the icon next to the name of the favorite and select a new icon. The list of available icons depends on your macOS version.

Please let us have the ability use some SF Symbols or free Font Awesome as custom favorite icons instead.
https://developer.apple.com/sf-symbols
https://fontawesome.com
These are SF symbols. We have selected some of the available icons that you can use in apps. Not all icons can be freely used. As for now, only the added icons are available to use in ForkLift.
OK I didn’t realize they were SF symbols. As an example the cloud icon in ForkLift is often used as a weather symbol and not as an infrastructure cloud icon. Yes they do differ and how they are used. And we need more business like custom icons (files, folders, devices, servers, tools, apps, cloud services, operating systems, etc). Sorry to be negative but I don’t need any teddy beers, ladybugs or sailing boats. Please have a look at the new version of SnippetsLab. They have about 600 more or less relevant icons to chose from but you can always find some suitable icons for your workspace. At least give us a Linux penguin instead of a fish… 🙂

we will consider adding more icons to select from
Is the possibility to use keyboard selection one of these Numerous minor fixes and improvements?
We currently don’t plan adding keyboard selection to ForkLift 4 and that addition wouldn’t be a minor change, so no, keyboard selection hasn’t been secretly added.
So, people are still asking for keyboard selection and your answer is still no? Well, I see less and less comments under each release. Looks like people are moving on…
This is very unfortunate. I upgraded today, not suspecting such critical functionality would have been removed, and yet it was. Hopefully I can get a refund.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience, we have refunded your purchase.
I was very frustrated by this loss of functionality. I found that the QSpace Pro software does offer keyboard selection (which works well in their latest beta).
I can add that the QSpace developer is super responsive and has already fixed two bugs that I have reported. Quite the opposite of the attitude shown here…
the interface Preference Panel is actually tooo skimpy
What do you mean exactly?
means the icons or design of Settings Panel is to simple (rudimentary, ugly… whatever), On the contrary, the main interface design is nice.
I’m sorry if you find it ugly, but it won’t be changed in the near future for sure.
I checked with version 4.0.6 and the speed of “New folder with selection” was the same as before.
So I came up with a workaround.
I created a Tool in “Manage Tools…” that executes the following command
/bin/mkdir “NewFolder”
/bin/mv “$SOURCE_SELECTION_PATHS” ./NewFolder
I then assigned keyboard shortcuts to this Tool.
This made it very efficient in grouping selected files into a new folder.
On the other hand, the advantage of running the process from right-click is that when you run the process, the created folder is selected and you can immediately rename the folder.
We look forward to the next update!

We will look at the issue.
Regarding the tab close button. When you hover over a tab, the close button should be displayed, but the close button should only be highlighted when you actually hover over the close button. Just like Finder, Safari or any other macOS app.
I’m not sure if that is a highlight or the close button itself but I see what you mean and I have added this to our feature request list.
Forklift 4.0.5 or 4.0.6 ???
The blog says 4.0.6, the downloaded App says 4.0.5…
I believe, you can download 4.0.6 from this blog entry but if somehow you have downloaded 4.0.5, then you can update it within the app. ForkLift > Check for Updates. The app should be inside the Applications folder.
Sorry, my mistake…
Would be nice if the downloaded ZIP has the version in the file name like ForkLift4.0.6.zip
The new Forklift version 4 changes the creation date of files that have been copied to a network drive! Strange. Forklift 3 has preserved the creation date of the files.
It seems that that is not caused by an issue in ForkLift but we will take a second look.
Is there a bug tracker to post bugs and to see if they have been processed?
There is no publicly available bug tracker. Please send us bugs via email at support [at] binarynights [dot] com
In Forklift 3, when you opened a directory with multiple items, there was a status bar on the bottom that showed “item count”.
I do not see that option in Forklift 4. Am I missing something or was this omitted.
That is now available at the top of the pane as part of the Path Bar.
